SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT: KOUGA MUNICIPALITY

REQUIREMENTS:           

Grade 12 , Library and Information Certificate; Minimum 3  years’    experience  in Public Library;

Computer Literacy; Be able to work independently; Ability to work well in a team;

Must be physically fit to move and shelve heavy Library materials;

Knowledge of Library operations; Ability to work with the public;

Good communication skills and be able to speak at least two (2) of the of three (3) languages (Xhosa, English and Afrikaans

RESPONSIBILITIES:                            

Issue Library material to the public; Join/Renew Library material; Shelving and circulation of Library material;   Attend to reference queries; Organizing awareness programmes; Receiving and checking of library material from the District, Head Office and Donations; Do children programs and Story Hour; Prepare monthly reports and statistics; Receipting and reconciling payments; Must be able to work independently; Maintain good public relations with the public.

SALARY:                        R l 61 772.00 – R209 964.00

BENEFITS:                       Housing allowance or subsidy under certain  conditions;

13th Bonus cheque;

24 Days leave per annum;

80 Days sick leave in a three year cycle.
